Chris Czainski’s exhibition of icons has just opened at Bradford Cathedral, and it does look just stunning! Artspace is exhibiting Chris’s religious icons, although others (including Elvis and Marilyn) can be seen on the monitor. Chris uses paint, textiles, gold leaf, found objects, old jewellery, feathers, eggshells and driftwood, amongst other things, in works that present the familiar in unfamiliar yet respectful ways. The icons sit particularly well in the Cathedral space and lead the eye to the Cathedral’s own icon by John Coleman that was made in 2008.
Chris will be giving a talk about her work on Thursday 18th September at 6.15, at which there will be refreshments. Choral Evensong is at 5.30 before the talk and is open to all.
Both the exhibition and the talk are free, so Artspace hopes to welcome you before the exhibition closes on October 14th.
