Douglas Binder
Doug Binder was in London with his friend and the UK’s greatest living artist, David Hockney, in the 1960s pop-art era. However Douglas’s contemporary work has evolved a long way from designing Beatles record album-covers. Central to his current work is the weekly life-drawing salon he holds at famous Yorkshire gallery Dean Clough. A mysterious soft light from an indeterminate source characterises Douglas’s recent oil paintings of golden nudes.
Doug Binder’s rich and sophisticated work has a solid following and is internationally collected. See Full Circle: The Paintings of Doug Binder.
Doug runs a weekly Life Room at Dean Clough Galleries, Halifax (UK). You can see Bel’s video short of it here.
