David Thomas
Perhaps you’ll agree that David Thomas is the quintessential Englishman. Dave’s small, quiet, domestic still-life oil-paintings and subdued palate are influenced, says Dave, by Georgio Morandi, whose hometown gallery in Italy Dave stumbled across while travelling as a student. We happen to think Dave’s work has a ‘socialist intellectual’ feel, a bit like the aesthetic of mid-20th century English modernists Ben and Winifred Nicholson et al. David says he is now more influenced by “Ben’s more talented dad” William Nicholson.
