Chris Murray
Chris Murray’s small, traditional oil paintings from life are always described (Chris must get tired of it) as “very Walter Sickert” – the latter a German-born artist considered to be an important influence on distinctively British styles of avant-garde art in the 20th century. Both in Chris’s choice of subject (‘ordinary’ people; domestic urban scenes) and style (dark, dense, oil paintings; sombre palate), there’s a distinct Sickert likeness and an Englishness. Chris is a serious person with an intellectual approach.
